Well, I'm going to be a copycat right now. I''m having another case of blogger's block and my friend Stef just blogged about the random things in her head...so here I go with mine! (Imitation is the sincerest form of flattery, right!?)
*I have this coupon to a new boutique a friend of mine opened called the Chocolate Peacock that expires on Saturday. I really should not be buying any new clothes right now or spending any money at all, but I feel like I really need to go support her store and at least buy one thing. So Thursday I'm off to find something fun.
*Sunday morning I found Max doing the spiderman on TOP of his crib. Yes, you heard me right, he was doing the spiderman, which means both legs were on one edge of his crib rail and he was crouched down with both arms on the other rail, just about ready to spring himself free from his little jailcell bed. Good thing I came in when I did, he probably would have falled straight on his head and gotten quite the goose-egg! Luckily he hasn't tried it again. I'm all prepared at any moment to race off and get a crib-tent if I catch the stinker doing the spiderman again, though!
*Kirk is traveling again (sigh). I am so blessed he is busy with work but it just sucks being a single parent sometimes. And I miss my better half.
*My dear friend, Lesley is about to give birth any second. If she doesn't go into labor in the next few days, she will be induced on Friday. She is a first time mommy, so we've been working together on organizing her nursery and enjoying a little girl time while she waits for baby to be born. So much fun!!!
*I wish I had playgroup EVERY day, instead of just Wednesdays and the occasional Friday. I just love my playgroup friends and they really keep me sane.
*This dang heat is just about melting me out of house and home! I'm so stinking ready for fall. Football, sweatshirts, and playing outdoors for a change will be so much fun!
*I finally booked my trip to see my bestie, Steph, in San Diego over Labor day weekend. I am going from Thursday through the next Tuesday which sounded good when I booked it, but now am wondering how Kirk and Max will survive without me for 5 nights! I keep having mini panic attacks during the day about what Max will eat while I'm gone, how clean the house will be when I return, etc. I really need to just relax and take one of my chill pills! :)
*Kirk ordered me a cycle of Reveal from Complete Nutrition. Now that they are his main client, he's all excited about all the different supplements they offer. I appreciate his thought, especially since I just quit my gym membership, but I'm a wee bit nervous about being on these pills that "speed up the metabolism". Sounds too good to be true. Guess we'll see!
*I splurged and bought Max the DVD "Cars" because the only other DVD that Max watches at our house is "Thomas the Train" and I'm downright sick of Thomas the Train. Of course I thought Max might just cozy up with me and watch at least a little bit of the movie. WRONG. He just kept pointing to my DVD cupboard and saying "Choo Choo Momma, Choo Choo". Sweet thing.
That's it. I'm off to bed.

Summer Study
In my summer women's Bible study right now we are studying the book of Ruth. I am so enjoying this Bible study. I haven't been in a Bible study that actually studies the Bible since probably early high school. This isn't to disregard or diminish the importance of my small group who Kirk and I have been meeting with for the last 3 years. I love my small group. We study different books or videos and have questions, discussion and just plain old christian fellowship, which is just as equally important in my mind. But there is something really deep that encourages my faith more than anything and that is just plain being in the Word of God.
This study is in in-depth look at the Book of Ruth; the woman she was, the unconditional love and obedience that she followed with her mother-in-law Naomi and ultimately God, and the love story that develops between herself and Boaz.
I have really been learning how incredibly faithful God is to those who blindly follow him even when it doesn't make sense and doesn't go along with what the world thinks is "normal".
This is tough for me because people's acceptance of me is really important. Too important, actually. I've always struggled with judging others and on the flip side, I get extremely insecure about others judging me. This study is really making me realize that I have absolutely no right to judge others. Everyone will be answering to the same God I will someday, and who do I think I am to judge someone else, anyway??!! I also am realizing that even if others judge me, it's okay and I have to follow and trust the Lord no matter what anyone else thinks of me.
I get nervous sometimes around different groups of friends because I feel if I talk about my faith too much, they might think I'm a "religious fanatic" or something, and I don't want to lose friendships because of my faith. This is where my lack of trust in the Lord comes in. Obviously I am not trusting that God has a perfect plan and if I just live my life and love him, things will work out according to his purpose. If I lose a few friends or freak a few people out along the way, so be it. No one said being a Christian in this world would be easy. Ruth was an alien in foreign land, lower than the servants, but because she trusted God blindly, wasn't afraid to follow him, she was blessed beyond measure and left a legacy we should all strive to follow.
Another thing I need to work on is gossip. I love good gossip. Who doesn't? Hearing juicy tidbits about someone else's life make mine seem a little more normal and makes me feel better about myself. This is such a trap straight from the devil himself. My gossip stems from my insecurity in Christ. I am always slapped in the face, though, when I find out someone has been gossiping about me. It is so painful to know people are talking about the juicy tidbits of my broken life that it's a good reminder that I need to keep my mouth shut! We are given one mouth and two ears for a reason! Ruth seemed to be such a great example of a godly woman and I really strive to follow in her legacy.
That's all for tonight. I can't wait to meet with the ladies tomorrow night for some in-depth discussion of Ruth! Goodnight!

The Library
I am so in love with the Library I thought I should blog about it. So here is a letter to the library that I won't send for fear of being even more nerdy than I already am, but instead will just bore you to tears with it :)
Dear Omaha Public Library,
I love you. You have saved me thousands upon thousands of dollars! Your easy online system of putting books on hold, shipping them to the closest library to my home, putting them on a shelf up front, and notifying me via phone call about it's arrival is probably in the top 10 things I am most thankful for in my entire life.
Plus not only can I check out books, but also DVDs. Occasionally when I am able to get to the library alone, I sneak in to read a few of my favorite magazines, so thank you for carrying People magazine, my favorite. I am one of the biggest book-worms in the world, my friends think I should just buy my books, but WHY ON EARTH should I do that when I have you??
I also want to thank you for your toddler storytime. Not only do you provide the reading of several books, but have a dance time, sharing time, craft time and snack time. How how I love you and how I hope my son, Max grows to love you, too.
I'll see you later this week, I have a book to pick up and a movie to return.
Love
Jenny

'Tis the Season for a Wedding!
Well, I've taken a bit of a siesta from my blog, not intentionally, though! My brother Philip got married last weekend and the last several months, particularly the last few weeks have been extremely busy with showers, bridal luncheons, shower shopping, wedding shopping, finding time to get a pedicure, you get the picture. :) We also had a nasty virus on our computer that hopefully I did not pass along to too many people, I already got word of someone who got it from me....but our anti-virus software is back up-to-date so after changing all the passwords to everything, I'm back in business!
I have been so blessed to have the most amazing wedding experience these past few months. My brother married an incredible woman who he's known and dated off and on since high school, Kassy LeBaron. I have to say their wedding and all the festivities surrounding the wedding were a dream-like experience for me! I had the best excuses to buy fancy dresses, new high heels and drink and eat lots of new yummy things. Plus I got a new woman in my life who I have assured several times that she will be my new BFF. :) In fact, I kind of got TWO new sisters because Kassy also has a sister and we really like each other so we've decided that we can be related, too.
The wedding weekend went something like this:
-Friday night, rehearsal at Westminster church in Lincoln. We must have been well behaved, the pastor said it was the shortest rehearsal on record for their church. Guess we were hungry!?
-After the rehearsal we had the Rehearsal dinner at The Venue. Delicious food and fun times were had by all. I do have to share a hilarious story that will probably be brought up until the day my brother takes his last breath....After the dinner when Philip and Kassy handed out all the gifts to their wedding party, they walked up to Kassy's grandma Flo (the only blood grandparent left on either side) and gave her a large beautiful bouquet of flowers as she was an honored guest. My thoughtful mother said loudly to Philip that he should probably give a speech to go along with it, so he did...it went a little something like this, "Grandma Flo, we had this special arrangement made for you since you are the last living grandparent on either side of the family......errrrrr.....I mean, everyone else has passed away......uhhhhh......what I mean is that we've been to a lot of funerals in the last year......." Awkward silence. This is almost word for word what he presented in front of about 50 people at this dinner. I'm pretty sure no one knew whether to laugh or cry. Hilarious. He really did mean well, Phil is a pretty sentimental guy, but somehow he dug himself a hole and it just kept getting deeper!
-Saturday morning we woke up and got our hair done together at the salon, which took about 2 hours longer than it was supposed to.....
-After hair, we went and changed at Kassy's parents house, took a tour of the backyard where the reception was going to take place, took pictures, munched, sweated our buns off and took more pictures.
-Left for the church, took more pictures at the church, Max arrived with my mother-in-law looking like the most adorable little munchkin you EVER saw in a shorts-tux with suspenders outfit, and then we waited downstairs for the wedding to start. During this time there was a camera crew and videographer in our dressing room to catch the "behind the scenes". Kassy was a bit nervous to get up in front of her 400 guests so us gals were singing extremely inappropriate songs to lighten her up. Hope that a few things get edited, lol! During this time, little did I know Max had blown out of his tux and my mother-in-law was having to clean it out in the bathroom sink........
-The ceremony was short and sweet, everything went really well! Kassy and Phil even memorized their vows and didn't have to repeat them after the pastor, I was impressed!
-After the ceremony the wedding party drove around Lincoln for a bit, popping champagne, flipping around on the ceiling poles of the partybus and finally stopping at a bar in Lincoln for a post-wedding drink.
-Then off to the reception! This was something to behold. There were two tents, one for eating (this one was air-conditioned, PTL!) and one for dancing. There were 3 or 4 (I lost track) bars set up around the backyard. There was a fun band during cocktail hour and then another, Doc James and the Honey for dancing after dinner. They were fabulous and if you ever get the chance to see them in concert, you should! Everything was in yellow, white or green and was so elegant! The "port-o-potties" that were brought in were nicer than my toilets at home with a fireplace, 5 flushing stalls each for the men and women and a bathroom attendant in each one! The night was great! Besides being the hottest day EVER, things worked out perfectly! Pizza was delivered around 11pm and there were still tons of people left dancing at that point.
All in all it was a truly magical weekend! Phil and Kassy are probably the most adorable couple I've ever seen together and I couldn't be happier for them!

My wonderful husband and I.
The lovely bride and her maids.
Just hanging around in the partybus, lovin' me some Spanx!!
Phil also loved hanging out in the partybus!
My new "sister's sister!" Love her!
